Course Information

            Course Title: Young Marine Recruit Training 

            Prerequisites
                  1. Application 
                  2. Copy of insurance card 
                  3. Copy of physical from doctor 

            Costs
                  1. Registration $25 and is required upfront (Includes guidebook, Red T-shirt and 
                       reference cards) 
                  2. Complete uniform $65* (boots, belt, Jacket, Trousers, Hat, patches) 
                  3. Physical Fitness Uniform $20* (2 T-shirts and 2 pairs of shorts) * Payment o
                       ptions are available

            Times
                  1. The course consists of five (5) consecutive Saturdays (Mandatory). 
                  2. Classes are from 9 am to 4 pm (8 hours) 
                  3. Course schedule with specific dates are attached. 

            Permission: All absences need to be approved by the Recruit Training Officer before
                   the class starts, however two (2) absences will constitute an incomplete and the 
                   recruit will be scheduled for the next training class. (This may cause a six (6) 
                   month delay in graduation).

            History

Text, Readings, Materials

Textbook(s): Young Marines Basic Guidebook (Issued upon registration)

Supplementary reading(s) Additional reading may be required, in most cases, Young Marines
       will be provided additional material at no cost to them. Young Marines may be required to
       research certain topics throughout the course.

Materials 
            1. 3-Ring Binder with ruled paper, pen or pencil 
            2. Issued guidebook 
            3. Sneakers 
            4. $1 for lunch as noon meal is provided by the Unit

Course Descriptions/Objectives. Young Marines will learn the following basic skills and 
      during the course, they must pass several examinations of which they must at least 
      attain a 70 percentile score. Your child will receive a learning objective matrix detailing
       what they must learn and know in order to graduate. 

            The following list describes the 10 basic core subjects
                  1. Origins of the Young Marines 
                  2. Obligations and Patriotic Versus 
                  3. Marine Corps History and Traditions 
                  4. Customs and Courtesy 
                  5. Uniforms and Personal Appearance 
                  6. Rank, Ratings and Insignia 
                  7. Table of Organization and Responsibilities 
                  8. Military Terms and Jargons 
                  9. Personal Hygiene 
                  10. Close Order Drill

Course Policies. All students will be respectful and will be required to follow the following
       rules: 
                  1. Raise hand to be acknowledged 
                  2. Do not talk without permission 
                  3.

Attendance, lateness 
            Attendance: Is mandatory and missing two or more classes will cause Young Marine to
                   be disenrolled from class.  Young Marine may attend the following class; however,
                   it may take up to six months. Recruit Training classes are scheduled around Sept/
                   Oct and Feb/Mar period, annually. 

            Lateness: Is not tolerated and repeated tardiness may cause a delay in the Young 
                  Marines graduation date.

Class participation: The Young Marines program is about assertiveness and feeling good 
      about yourself. Therefore, each Young Marine is encouraged to participate in all activities. 
      The Young Marine may be required to conduct a formation, talk in front of other Young 
      Marines or be able to drill/march other students.

Missed exams or assignments: All missed exams must be completed before Young Marine 
      can graduate from recruit training.

Lab safety/health: Safety is paramount and all Young Marines will be required to obey all 
      rules and posted warnings.
 
Academic dishonesty: Lying, cheating and stealing is not tolerated and those caught may
       be terminated from the program. Honor, Courage and Commitment are expected while
       in the Young Marines program.

Grading 
            A = 90 – 100 
            B = 80 – 89 
            C = 70 – 79 
            D = 60 -69 
            F = 59 and below
